Massaman Beef Curry

Massaman beef curry is a delightfully mild and nutty Southern Thai Curry that is influenced by Persian and Indian Cuisine. This is so delicious and simple to make and as it is so flavourful, hardly any additional ingredients are required!

Massaman Beef Curry with peanuts (serves 4)


  • 2 Tablespoons oil
  • 500 g stewing beef  (preferably on the bone)
  • 200g Spice and All things nice Massaman Curry mix
  • 1 Tablespoon fish stock
  • Fresh coriander
  • 1 tin coconut milk
  • 1 sweet potato – chopped
  • 1 normal potato – chopped
  • ½ a red pepper – chopped
  • peanuts – roughly ground

Cooking instructions

  • Heat oil in a large pot
  • Add the beef and brown on both sides
  • Add the Spice and All Things Nice Massaman Curry paste, potato and red pepper
  • Cook for a further 3 minutes
  • Add the coconut milk and 1 cup of water with the fish sauce
  • Cook gently on low until meat is tender (about 2 hours)
  • Garnish with fresh coriander and peanuts
  • Serve with Spice And All Things Nice Basmati rice and a fresh green salad

PS. If you would like to make this curry in hurry (under 10 minutes) then you can use beef strips ,sirloin or beef fillet.
